Burro Tacos

Burro Tacos - 4-480 Brant Street, Burlington ON

https://burrotacos.com/

Burro Tacos is another restaurant from "The Other Bird" family of restaurants.  We have tried "The Mule" a few times but we were in Burlington so thought we would give Burro a try.  They are located in an area of Brant Street where you can find many small eateries.  It is much smaller than The Mule but we were lucky to get a table for two without a wait.

Sweet Potato Taco

Spicy Brussel Sprout Taco

The menu is similar to the menu at The Mule but with a few less taco choices.  There was a large selection of drinks including beer and wine.  The menu has a few starters and then their list of taco choices.  We started with Guacomole and Chips and then selected a few tacos to try (Fish, Sweet Potato, Spicy Brussels Sprouts and Achiote Chicken).  We enjoy the food, drinks and atmosphere at these types of restaurants.  The food choices are unique and prices are reasonable too!

Kings Landing Bar and Grill

Kings Landing Bar and Grill - 1900 King Street East, Hamilton ON

We frequented this restaurant with our son's hockey team when it was the old End Zone Bar and Grill, which has now moved to a larger location across from Delta Highschool.  Kings Landing opened up about 6 weeks ago in this spot so we checked it out last night.
Two nice size pieces of fish and garden salad

Fish with side Greek salad

New decor looks awesome

Lots of booth seating and large bar area

The new owner has given the place a nice facelift.  The decor is quite nice.  There is still the large bar at one side and nice size TV screens but the seating area has had the most updates and looks great.  We wish they had the hockey games on last night....every other sport but hockey.

The menu selections all looked great (hamburgers, entree size salads, pizzas, sandwiches and wraps) but we were wanting fish.  We each had the Vodka and Soda Fish but with side salad instead of the fries.  They wouldn't do a side spinach salad for some reason, even though they had a spinach salad on the menu but we had a side of greek salad and garden salad.  The fish had a lot of batter but it was not greasy at all and the salads were nice with tasty dressing.

I think they have done a good job of updating the place and we want to return to try one of the burgers or pizzas.....maybe with our long time hockey friends.

Berkeley North - 31 King William Street, Hamilton ON

Berkeley North - 31 King William Street, Hamilton ON    http://www.berkeleynorth.ca/

Loved this restaurant!  Table for two and window seat with street view, which we love.  The entire atmosphere of this restaurant is lovely.  In nice weather, the front windows will open up to a small patio.  We will definitely go back to enjoy this patio.

Drinks:  Large selection of cocktails, wine and beer, but we stuck to our usual try of what is on tap.  We really liked the Niagara College draft beer on tap, although I can't remember the name.

Food:  This is a different type of menu.  It is small and all of the selections are meant to be shareable dishes which are appetizer size or slightly bigger.  If you are looking for a typical size meal or you want to order from a menu of larger meal size dishes, this is not the place for you.

Our server was excellent.  She explained each of the dishes and that for two people you might order about 5 different dishes from the menu....which we did.  We tried the Mushroom Dumplings (special of the day), Shishito Pepper Tempura, Fresh Cheese with Sourdough bread (all made fresh at the restaurant), Edamame Dumplings and the Alaskan King Crab Pasta.

We enjoyed every dish but favorites would be the Cheese and Bread and the Edamame Dumplings!

The service can make or break a meal and the service here was awesome.  Our server brought us a chocolate cake to share at the end.  We were so full but still enjoyed this dessert.  We would definitely go back to Berkeley North.

Knead Pizza - 274 James St. N. Hamilton, ON

We tried Knead Pizza on James Street North last night after it was recommended to us. Web site:
 http://kneadpizza.ca/

The restaurant is on the same stretch of James St. N. as many other new places in Hamilton.
They have canned beer from a few local breweries and wine but nothing on tap.  There is a selection of specialty pizzas but you can order a salad, wings or garlic fingers too.

We shared a Caesar salad and an x-large pizza.  Half of our pizza was "The Salt Lick" which consisted of smoked brisket, red onion, honey, gorgonzola cheese, cilantro and pickled Jalapenos and the other half was the "Sausage and Peppers" which also had fresh basil, garlic and boccancini.  The pizza was excellent!  We especially liked "The Salt Lick" and the honey gave it a unique flavor.

This was an inexpensive dinner for two at $56 and we had leftovers!!

It's not a fancy place but if you are looking to try pizza with some unique flavors its perfect and they played good music too! (80s 90s indy rock type music)

Back to Aberdeen Tavern

We decided to go back to Aberdeen Tavern this week.   http://theaberdeen.ca/

Tough to get early reservations but 8:30 pm worked, as there was no one following us and we did not feel rushed.  The waiter was very good and you could tell that he enjoyed his job.
Appetizers we picked were the bread with dips and the Buffalo Cauliflower.  Entrees were all good.  Pictures include the Ling Cod, Veal Meatball Marinara and Braised Beef.  Entrees $20-$30 average.  Also two desserts, the chocolate cake and lemon tart.
This is a really nice spot.  The menu is a perfect size for choosing and great atmosphere.  Total of the bill for three of us with draft beers as well was $120.
